Thursday Thirteen #6

1. Word count is…. 15,126. 2. I’m caught up to where I should be if I stick to 1667 words per day. 3. The problem is that next weekend I will be very busy, so I should try to get ahead. Which means that even though I’m technically ahead, I still feel behind. 4. Unfortunately, my ‘busy’ weekend will not be fun-filled with long horseback rides even though the weather is supposed to be beautiful. 5. That’s because it’s going to be RUINED with three, and possibly four, soccer games. RUINED!! Plus we have a soccer game tonight under the lights. In 40 degree weather. I have begun to truly HATE soccer. SOCCER SUCKS! 6. If you haven’t noticed, I am slightly burnt out from writing nearly 3,000 words in one day while I was also working full-time, checking homework, doing laundry, and making my peanut butter and banana bagel for dinner. 7. Therefore, I have nothing worthwhile left to say, really, which is why I am typing stupid one sentence drivel for most of this Thursday Thirteen. 8. Everyone loves my new haircut, by the way. The only problem is that now I have to actually style it in the morning. It has to be blown-dried with the round brush in sections. This takes way too long. I’m starting to miss my one-length no style hairdo that looked like crap most days but took no time to dry. 9. I am seriously wondering if I can come up with thirteen things to say tonight. I think I am truly brain-dead. 10. In my story, I have finally reached the funeral of Elizabeth’s husband. The next chapter is where she meets the lawyer and finds out she doesn’t have as much money as she thought she did. 11. Plus, she finds out that her husband left a big chunk of money to his female administrative assistant. Oooooooo. 12. That’s what I had planned before I started writing. I had no idea it would take nearly 20,000 words to get there. After that, the fun will begin, because I have no idea what Elizabeth will do once she learns all this news. 13. Maybe she will take over the world and outlaw soccer! Maybe she will do that before the game tonight so I won’t have to freeze my ass off. SOCCER SUCKS! Links to other Thursday Thirteens! 2. Jessica

Yikes… I was getting all juiced for soccer, as my oldest will be old enough next year finally. But now that you mention what a pain in the ass it can be… I wonder if I should hold off a little while! I mean… I can see how it could get to be too much. So when we start, it had better be for him, not me.
Novel’s looking good!

Tee hee!
I’m so proud of you for your progress on the novel. Keep it up, but don’t stress yourself out about it (it’s supposed to be fun). Big hugs.

Awww. I like soccer. My daughter’s last game is Saturday. I love watching her play.
Glad your caught up. Sorry you’re already behind though. So am I. Permanently behind I’m sure.
Here’s my 13 today!

When my little boy first started making noises about wanting to play soccer, I took a calendar and showed him how long the season lasted. He said, “oh, no! That is not for me!” (I laughed and laughed and thanked the stars above).

Wow - over 15,000 words! That’s great. I like sports alright but if I had to go to that many soccer games, I think I would want to crawl into bed and never come out. Can you bring a laptop to the games and work on the book? Or play a game? Anything?! Although it’ll be hard to type in 40 degree weather.
I learned that in HK and China, they don’t heat the schools during the winter. It doesn’t get Chicago cold but it gets cold enough that the kids all have to wear several layers of clothing and they all have fingerless gloves so they can write! So, my point is, you can work on a laptop and use fingerless gloves!
